Abstract

This research is a type of correlational research which aims to determine the significant relationship between HOTS thinking abilities and solving mathematics story problems for fifth grade students at SDN 13 Biru, Tanete Riattang District, Bone Regency. The population of this research is all 60 class V students and the sampling technique for this research is saturated sampling. Data analysis techniques use descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Based on the descriptive results, an overview of the HOTS thinking abilities of class V students at SDN 13 Biru was obtained, including in the very good category with a frequency of 34 people (54%). The description of the ability to solve math story problems for fifth grade students at SDN 13 Biru is in the very good category with a frequency of 50 people (83%). The results of the inferential statistical analysis of the Pearson product moment correlation were obtained at 0.445 in the medium category because it was in the
range 0.40-0.599. The correlation between HOTS thinking ability and solving math story problems is (rxy 0.445 > r table 0.2542) where H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The conclusion of this research is that there is a significant relationship between HOTS thinking ability and solving mathematics story problems for fifth grade students at SDN 13 Biru, Tanete Riattang District, Bone Regency, with a correlation value of 0.445 which is in the medium category.
