Abstract

Application of the PQ4R strategy to improve the literal comprehension reading skills of fifth grade students at SD Inpres 12/79 Barebbo. Thesis. Department of Elementary School Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, Makassar State University. (Supervised by Muliadi and Satriani DH)

This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which aims to describe the application of the PQ4R strategy to improve the literal comprehension reading skills of fifth grade students at SD Inpres 12/79 Barebbo. The subjects of this research were all 19 class V students and the class V homeroom teacher. Data collection techniques used observation and tests. Data analysis techniques include reducing data, describing data, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that after implementing the PQ4R strategy there was visible improvement. In cycle I, students' literal comprehension reading skills were in the Fair (C) category with a percentage of 68.51% and in cycle II they reached the Good category (B) with a percentage of 85.18%. The conclusion of this research is that applying the PQ4R strategy can improve the literal comprehension reading skills of fifth grade students at SD Inpres 12/79 Barebbo.
