IMPROVING STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES ON SOCIAL CHANGE MATERIAL THROUGH THE POWER OF TWO STRATEGY IN CLASS IX AT SMP NEGERI 3 MAKASSAR

Researchers evaluated many schools in Makassar City owing to low learning results; SMPN 3 Makassar was one among them. Only 40% of pupils met the KKM. A few of the goals of this research are as follows: (1). Having knowledge of the following: (1) the power of two strategy's impact on the classroom instruction and student learning at SMP Negeri 3 Makassar in ninth grade; and (2) the power of two strategy's positive effect on ninth graders' social studies performance. The students included in this study were from Makassar's ninth grade at SMP Negeri 3. This study was carried out during the second half of the academic year 2024–2025. There are two phases of classroom action research (PTK). The participants in the study were both instructors and students from the ninth grade at SMP Negeri 3 Makassar. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected for this research using learning outcome tests and observation sheets. The study's authors concluded that the power-of-two method worked. Student learning activities had an acceptable rise in average score to 3.1. (2) Teacher-led instruction also saw an improvement, with an average score of 3.4—a very commendable improvement. (3). Class IX students at SMP Negeri 3 Makassar improved their social studies learning outcomes on the KKM, with an average score of 77 and 83% learning completeness (or 20 students with scores > 72).
Peneliti mengevaluasi banyak sekolah di Kota Makassar karena hasil belajar yang rendah; SMPN 3 Makassar adalah salah satunya. Hanya 40% siswa yang memenuhi KKM. Beberapa tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1). Memiliki pengetahuan tentang hal-hal berikut: (1) dampak strategi the power of two terhadap pembelajaran di kelas dan pembelajaran siswa di SMP Negeri 3 Makassar di kelas IX; dan (2) pengaruh positif strategi the power of two terhadap hasil belajar IPS siswa kelas IX. Siswa yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini berasal dari kelas sembilan di SMP Negeri 3 Makassar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada paruh kedua tahun ajaran 2024-2025. Ada dua tahap penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah guru dan siswa kelas IX di SMP Negeri 3 Makassar. Data kualitatif dan kuantitatif dikumpulkan untuk penelitian ini dengan memakai tes hasil belajar dan lembar observasi. Para penulis penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa metode the power of two berhasil. Aktivitas belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan skor rata-rata yang dapat diterima menjadi 3,1. (2) Pengajaran yang dipimpin oleh guru juga mengalami peningkatan, dengan skor rata-rata 3,4 - peningkatan yang sangat baik. (3). Siswa kelas IX di SMP Negeri 3 Makassar mengalami peningkatan hasil belajar IPS di atas KKM, dengan nilai rata-rata 77 dan ketuntasan belajar 83% (atau 20 siswa dengan nilai > 72).
