Welcome to INSPIRE

INSPIRE: International Journal of Science in Primary Education is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Department of Primary Teacher Education, Universitas Negeri Makassar, Indonesia. We are dedicated to advancing research, innovation, and best practices in science education at the primary school level (ages 6–12).

The journal welcomes original empirical research, theoretical reviews, and curriculum studies from scholars, educators, and practitioners worldwide. We place particular emphasis on contextually relevant and culturally responsive approaches to science teaching and learning, with a special interest in contributions from Southeast Asia and the Global South.

Focus areas

Science curriculum & pedagogy, inquiry-based learning, STEM integration, teacher professional development, assessment, and indigenous science knowledge.

Publication standards

Double-blind peer review, CrossRef DOI registration, CC BY 4.0 open access, plagiarism screening (<20%), APA 7th edition referencing.

INSPIRE is currently accepting submissions for its inaugural issue. We welcome research articles and review articles on all aspects of science teaching and learning at the primary level. Submission deadline: 31 May 2026. APC: IDR 250,000.
