Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the drill method in improving long service skills in grade XI students at SMK Negeri 5 Makassar. The method used is classroom action research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, to improve the results of the previous cycle. The research sample consisted of 32 students. The results of the study showed that the drill method was successful in improving basic long serve technique skills. From the initial data, only 25% of students achieved completion; however, in Cycle I, this percentage increased to 46.88%, and in Cycle II jumped to 81.25%. This significant increase indicates that the drill method is very effective in improving students' skills and understanding. Thus, the application of this method can be adopted as an effective strategy in teaching physical education, especially in developing sports skills among students
