Jurnal ini menjadi wadah ilmiah bagi peneliti, pendidik, dan praktisi pendidikan untuk mendiseminasikan hasil penelitian, gagasan teoretis, serta praktik terbaik yang berkaitan dengan pembelajaran dan pengajaran matematika pada jenjang pendidikan dasar.

    PRIME mempublikasikan artikel-artikel ilmiah yang mengkaji pendidikan matematika pada Sekolah Dasar serta pada pendidikan calon guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD atau program sejenis). Fokus kajian meliputi proses pembelajaran, strategi dan model pembelajaran, implementasi kurikulum, asesmen pembelajaran, serta berbagai inovasi dalam pendidikan matematika dasar.

    Ruang lingkup PRIME mencakup, tetapi tidak terbatas pada, kajian mengenai numerasi dan literasi matematika, pemahaman konsep matematika dasar, pemecahan masalah dan penalaran matematis, sikap dan aspek afektif siswa terhadap matematika, asesmen dan evaluasi pembelajaran matematika, pengembangan model, metode, media, dan teknologi pembelajaran matematika, etnomatematika, serta kebijakan dan kurikulum pendidikan matematika dasar.

    PRIME menerima artikel hasil penelitian dengan pendekatan kualitatif, kuantitatif, maupun metode campuran (mixed methods), termasuk penelitian eksperimen dan kuasi-eksperimen, penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development), studi literatur sistematis, serta kajian konseptual dan empiris yang berkontribusi pada pengembangan pendidikan matematika dasar.

    Jurnal ini diterbitkan dua kali dalam setahun, yaitu pada bulan April dan Oktober, dengan jumlah artikel pada setiap edisi berkisar antara 5 hingga 15 artikel. Naskah dapat ditulis dalam bahasa Indonesia dengan abstrak berbahasa Inggris, atau ditulis sepenuhnya dalam bahasa Inggris. Seluruh naskah yang masuk akan melalui proses penelaahan sejawat (peer review) untuk menjamin mutu dan integritas akademik publikasi.
